6:30 PM on Thursday, June 28 (dinner will be served at 7:00) in the Good Luck Private Dining Room.
In northern Spain, La Batalla del Vino de Haro is a tradition like no other. Way back in the 13th century, the Rioja village of Haro needed to mark its border, lest it be absorbed into the neighboring town of Miranda de Ebro. Feuds over land resulted in the two towns throwing bottles of wine at one another to settle their dispute, resulting in the very first wine battle. (The winner of this scuffle is dubious.) For over 400 years, citizens of both towns would assemble to celebrate a wine-fueled festival with this (mostly) friendly fight. Resurrected in 1965 by the mayor of Haro, the tradition is reborn in modernity and continues today.
La Batalla begins annually with the feast of St. Peter on June 28th, and it is this celebratory dinner we will host in honor of this intriguing tradition. Spanish wines will be presented by sommelier JJ Cutaia, paired with the culinary prowess of Chef Dan Martello and team. Engage in some civility, crush some cuisine, sip some wine, and prepare for battle!
Ticket price includes four-course dinner, wine pairings, hospitality and tax.
